In Year 7, students will begin the Music Mandatory course. They will discover the elements of Music: Pitch, Duration, Texture, Tone Colour, Dynamics and Expressive Techniques, and Structure. Students will perform in groups and compose original musical ideas. They will learn to listen to music through the frame of the elements.

This is the second year of the Music Mandatory course. Students will continue to explore the elements of Music through group performance and composition activities. They will have the opportunity to develop specific skills on the guitar and piano, and will work towards a solo performance on one of these instruments, or an instrument that they have studied outside of the classroom.

This is the first year of the Elective Music course. We'll look at three topics in depth through performing, composing and listening experiences. Students will choose an instrument on which they should begin private tuition.

This is the second year of the Elective Music course. We'll look at three topics in depth through performing, composing and listening experiences. Students will continue to develop skills on a chosen instrument as their speciality.

The Preliminary Music 1 course will cover three topics over three terms. These topics will come from a prescribed list from the BOSTES and allow great scope for student interest and experience. Within all topics, learning activities will be in the areas of Performance, Musicology, Aural Skills and Composition.

The HSC Music 1 course will cover three topics over three terms. These topics will come from a prescribed list from the BOSTES and allow great scope for student interest and experience. Within all topics, learning activities will be in the areas of Performance, Musicology, Aural Skills and Composition. The final term will prepare students for submission of their Electives and Core Performance.
